Metropolitan battle insues tonight at the Garden

An offense starved NY Rangers team faces off against a defensive starved NJ Devils tonight at Madison Square Garden, in their first of 9 matchups this season. The Rangers come into tonights game at 2-5-1, while the Devils come in with a 3-4-1 record. This can possibly be a blessing in disguise in my eyes as I look at this matchup by the way both of these teams have played so far.

The Rangers come in scoring at a last place clip this season, registering 13 goals, in their 8 games this season. The Devils come in allowing an Un-Devil like 28 goals in their 8 games played. Hall of fame bound goalie Martin Brodeur is 2-4 this season with a 3.51 GAA, while Kevin Weekes is 1-1 with a 2.4 GAA. the team most likely will go with Brodeur, hopefully allowing the Rangers to manage even a goal tonight, as he hasn't played well this season. The defense hasn't helped Brodeur all that much either, not helping that high GAA.

It may seem early in the season, but it seems like do or die for the Rangers tonight, as fans as well as coaching are getting restless, watching a highly talented team go over 181 minutes without a goal, but with Brodeur in the net, who knows what defense and what Marty show up tonight, thus being a high energy, very important game for both teams.
